Mezzanine access platform with stair and handrail for a western Melbourne distribution centre.

Challenge
A distribution tenant needed mezzanine access within a live warehouse bay with limited weekend shutdown. Survey showed slab levels varied; the engineer’s initial string lengths assumed a flat datum.
Approach
We held the stair and platform as separate modules with slotted base connections. Site survey dimensions were taken before final weld of the stair flight. Handrail posts were drilled in jigs after square-up.
Outcome
Install completed in one shutdown window. Bolt-up aligned without field drilling on the main string. Client retained our packing list for a second bay replication later in the year.
Delivery
Drawings were issued for fabrication with hold points on survey-critical interfaces. Components were packed in stillages with restraints suited to metro delivery. Early alignment on survey, coating turnaround and install access kept the programme stable for follow-on work.
